All For Mailers Student Scholarship — $500 Awarded Twice a Year

All For Mailers is a veteran-owned mailing equipment dealer in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. Since 2006 we have sold, serviced and supported the address printers, tabbers, folder-inserters and pressure sealers that keep American mail moving. Twice a year we award a $500 scholarship to the student who can think most clearly about how mail actually works for a real business, a nonprofit or a church. No GPA cutoff, no application fee, no essay about yourself. Show us you understand the mail, and you could earn a check toward your education.

The Award: $500, Twice a Year

  • 1st place: $500, awarded every cycle.
  • When business has been good and the entries earn it, we add 2nd place ($300) and 3rd place ($100) awards at our discretion. That is our call each cycle, announced with the results, and not something we promise in advance. Fall 2026 was a three-award cycle.

Each award is paid by check made co-payable to the student and their college or university and mailed to the school. Winning essays are published on the All For Mailers blog with the student’s name, school and photo, and shared on our social media accounts.

Deadlines

  • Spring cycle: entries due March 15
  • Fall cycle: entries due September 15

Entries received after a deadline roll into the next cycle. Winners are contacted by email first, so use an address you actually check.

Essay Topics (choose one)

Write 800 to 1,000 words on one of the four topics below. These are questions our customers ask us every week. Research them the way you would if your own money were on the line, and write like you are advising a real business owner.

  1. New vs. refurbished mailing equipment: how should a small business decide?
When does a refurbished tabber, folder-inserter or address printer make more sense than a new one, and when does it not? Consider budget, volume, warranty, service and how long the equipment needs to last.
  2. Design a 500-piece direct mail campaign for a real local business you know.
Pick an actual business in your area (a dentist, a church, a landscaper, a realtor, a school, an auto shop). Explain who gets the mail, what it says, how it is printed, addressed and prepared, and exactly how you will measure whether it worked.
  3. Printing addresses directly on envelopes vs. using labels: which is right for a nonprofit or church mailing, and why?
Cost, speed, appearance, USPS readability and the equipment each approach requires. Take a position and defend it.
  4. What does the USPS require before you can mail a folded self-mailer or postcard at bulk rates, and what equipment does that take?
Tabbing rules, paper weight, size limits, address placement and the steps a mailer must complete before the post office will accept the job.

Required for Every Entry: The Mail You Kept

In addition to your essay, every entry must answer this question in 100 words or fewer:

What is the last piece of physical mail you actually kept, and why did it work on you?

This is the part we look forward to reading most. Be specific and be honest. The best answers are the ones only you could have written.

Entry Rules

  • Your main essay must be 800 to 1,000 words, plus the 100-word “mail you kept” answer.
  • Your essay must reference at least two specific equipment categories from AllForMailers.com by name, for example address printers, tabbers, folder-inserters, pressure sealers or postage stamp appliers. Browse our equipment catalog to research them.
  • Paste your essay directly into the form. File uploads are not accepted for the essay.
  • Essays that are obviously AI-generated, or that contain text copied from another source or tool, will be disqualified. Plagiarism is not acceptable; if plagiarism is discovered, that entry will be disqualified immediately.
  • One headshot photo is required (JPG or PNG, under 8 MB). Winning essays are published with the photo.
  • One entry per student per cycle. A second entry disqualifies both.
  • Use careful grammar and punctuation. Write in English.
  • There is no cost to enter. All entries become the property of All For Mailers, Inc. We reserve the right to edit for length and content, and essays may be published on AllForMailers.com and on our social media accounts.

Who Is Eligible

How Winners Are Chosen

Every entry is read and judged by James Angst, President of All For Mailers. James has worked in the mailing and addressing equipment industry since 1991 and is a U.S. Air Force Reserve veteran. He is looking for original thinking, accurate research, and advice a real business owner could act on. Winners are notified by email after each deadline, and the winning essays are posted on the blog once the checks are on their way.

Scholarship FAQ

Do I have to be studying business or marketing?
No. Any major, any school in the U.S. or Canada. We care about the thinking, not the transcript.

Can I write about a business I made up?
For Topic 2, no. Pick a real local business you know. You do not need their permission, but the details should be real.

How do I find the equipment categories to reference?
Start at our equipment catalog. Each category page explains what the machine does and who uses it.

Can I use AI to help write my essay?
Use it for research if you like, but the essay has to be yours. Entries that read like a chatbot wrote them are disqualified.

Is there always a 2nd and 3rd place?
No. The $500 first-place award is every cycle. Additional awards are added some cycles at our discretion and announced with the results.

How will I know if I won?
We email the winners after each deadline. If you have not heard from us within about 30 days of the deadline, you were not selected that cycle, but you are welcome to enter the next one.

How is the check paid?
Co-payable to you and your school, mailed to the school’s financial aid or bursar office. That is why we ask for your school’s name and mailing address on the form.

Can I enter both cycles in the same year?
Yes, one entry per cycle.
