AFM80ST Instructional Videos

AFM80ST Stamp Setup (watch this one first) · Setting the Sensor, Separation & Stamp Position · Changing from Postcards to Envelopes & Sensor Adjustment · Cleaning the Label Sensor · AFM80ST Paper Sensor Check · Full AFM80ST Playlist

Note: a Pitney Bowes tabber setup video circulates online for general reference — do NOT use its sensor setup instructions on your AFM80ST; the calibration process is different.

Supplies & Maintenance

S203 Rubber Roller Cleaner & Rejuvenator — conditions rollers for grip and long life · Standard Tab Rolls (5,000/roll) — recommended for all machines · Large Tab Rolls (10,000/roll) — newer units only · Rena/Quadient Rolled Tabs. Older AFM80ST units are generally not compatible with 1.5″ tabs or larger rolls — use the 5,000-count rolls.

AFM80ST Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting

Where do I start? I received the machine with no printed instructions.

All setup resources are available digitally. Start in this order: read the Complete Operations Manual (linked above), watch the AFM80ST Stamp Setup Video — the most important first video — then read the Stamp Setup Instructions page, and watch Setting the Sensor, Separation, and Stamp Position before running your first batch.

The machine is applying stamps only about 50% of the time. What’s wrong?

This is almost always a separator adjustment issue — usually the paper is overlapping or running too close together through the machine. Set the separators as loose as possible so pieces pull through easily, but tight enough that only one goes through at a time. Watch the Setting the Sensor, Separation, and Stamp Position video, review the Feeding Tips guide, and run the AFM80ST Paper Sensor Check. Important: do NOT use the Pitney Bowes video’s sensor setup steps on your AFM80ST — the calibration process is different.

Stamps are being wasted or not applying cleanly. What should I check?

Stamp waste is typically improper stamp setup or timing. Watch the AFM80ST Stamp Setup Video — proper roll loading prevents waste — verify the stamp position so it applies in the right spot for your envelope size, and always run a few test pieces before loading a large batch.

How do I load stamps correctly?

See the Stamp Setup Instructions page and the AFM80ST Stamp Setup Video. Key points: thread the stamp roll through the machine path as shown in the manual, make sure the adhesive side faces the correct direction, and set the stamp position dial for your envelope size.

How do I feed a large batch of envelopes without babysitting the feeder?

Fan your envelopes before loading so they don’t stick together, set the side guide to just barely let envelopes slide through, adjust the separator gap for your envelope thickness, and don’t overload the tray — smaller stacks feed more reliably. If you switch between postcards and envelopes, watch the Changing from Postcards to Envelopes video.

Envelopes are jamming or double-feeding. How do I fix it?

Usually a separator gap issue or dirty rollers. Review the Feeding Tips guide, clean the rubber feed rollers with S203 Rubber Roller Cleaner & Rejuvenator — glazed rollers cause both jams and double-feeds — and fan and straighten the stack before loading.

How do I adjust the sensor for different envelope sizes?

Watch Setting the Sensor, Separation, and Stamp Position and the Changing from Postcards to Envelopes video. Set the sensor height so it reliably detects your specific mail piece. For multi-stamp configurations see the Multi Stamping / Sensor Setup guide.

How often should I clean the sensor?

Clean it any time you see inconsistent stamping — generally every few thousand pieces. Watch the Cleaning the Label Sensor video for the procedure. Dust, adhesive residue, and paper fibers are the usual culprits.

What tabs are compatible with this machine?

Standard 1-inch postal tabs. Standard 5,000-count rolls work on all machines and are recommended for older units. Newer AFM80ST units also run 10,000-count rolls and Rena/Quadient rolled tabs — older machines are generally not compatible with 1.5-inch tabs or the larger rolls; if you have issues, switch to the 5,000-count rolls.

How do I keep the feed consistent over time?

Use S203 Rubber Roller Cleaner & Rejuvenator regularly — it cleans and conditions the rubber rollers, restoring grip. Glazed or dirty rollers are one of the most common causes of feed problems.

Still having trouble — what’s the fastest way to get support?

Record a short 30-60 second video of the problem happening — video is worth more than any description — or take photos of the stamp area, sensor, and feed path from multiple angles. Submit them through our support form; if the files are too big, upload to YouTube, Rumble, Google Drive, or Dropbox and send the link. For live visual support a technician can connect by video — install the app at ForMailers.com/4. Phone support: 866-430-2874 or 215-774-1405. Please describe what the machine IS doing (stamps every other envelope, jams after 3 pieces) rather than just that it doesn’t work.

Technical Support

When working with a technician, more information is always better. A short video of the issue is best, photos second — submit them via our support form. For live remote video support install the app at ForMailers.com/4. Call us at 866-430-2874 or 215-774-1405. Full details: Support & Service.
