About the Staplex Tabster TBS-1.5

The Staplex® Tabster® TBS-1.5 is a compact, hand-fed tabber that applies 1.5 in wafer seals (tabs) to folded self-mailers, newsletters and booklets so they meet USPS automation requirements without a full production tabbing line. Handles pieces up to 50 sheets of 20 lb material with 1.5 in tabs (30 sheets with 1 in tabs), and the Tabster places each 1.5 in tab on the open edge; material must be at least 3 in wide, and the tab center sits 1.25 in or more from the edge. It is a lighted-switch, plug-in desktop unit built in the USA — the right size for a church office, school, association or small print shop that tabs a few hundred to a few thousand pieces at a time.
A Tabster is the right tool for the small jobs: tabbing the few mailers an automatic tabber missed, short runs where an automatic is not worth setting up, and pieces an automatic cannot handle. Staplex builds them to order in Brooklyn, NY; current factory lead time is 2–3 business days, plus transit.
