About the Rena Imager CS
The Rena Imager CS was one of the most efficient address printers of its day — and a rarity, printing full-bleed envelopes, postcards, self-mailers, flat envelopes and documents in a single pass. As a full-process color inkjet printer, it was the perfect entry-level choice for direct mailers who wanted eye-catching color without a high-end price.
It relied on HP PhotoSmart software technology to produce vivid, photo-realistic images, with a shuttle-head design giving a print area up to 8.5" wide by 14" high. Specs: HP56/HP57 color cartridges; up to 4,300 pieces/hour at 300 dpi (3,600/hour at 600 dpi); print quality up to 1200 dpi; integrated capping and cleaning station; clutch-controlled integrated feeder holding up to 300 #10 envelopes; USB and parallel ports; material from 3" x 5" up to 12" x 14"; 19.5"W x 22"L x 17.25"H; 40 lb. Optional conveyor/stacker/dryer available.

The RENA Reality — Read Before You Buy
Straight talk: buy a Rena Imager CS for parts only. This was a tank — an excellent machine that earned its reputation, and the mechanics on a good one could keep working for decades. But the electronics are the limit: the boards are no longer available at any price. Once one fails, the machine is done, however good the rest of it is. We don’t recommend buying one to put into production.
Protect what you have. These machines were built to last, and the mechanics will outlive the electronics every time. If you’re running one, put it on a quality surge protector, and add static protection — especially in dry winter air or on high-speed paper handling. Power spikes and static are what kill boards, and on these machines a board may not be replaceable at any price. It’s the cheapest insurance there is for equipment you can’t simply reorder.
