Description
About the Omation Model 2112
The Omation Model 2112 Envelopener brings automation to mid-sized mail-opening jobs using milling-cutter technology similar to Omation’s larger Model 306. Rather than slicing, it mills a fine trim off the envelope edge, producing a soft, feathered border that protects the contents — a clear advantage over slicing-blade or guillotine cutters that can damage contents and cause paper cuts. Businesses and government agencies have relied on Omation envelopeners for years.
It opens envelopes at up to 400 per minute and removes chips roughly 0.01″ (0.25–1.79 mm) thick from envelope edges, handling both first-class mail and overnight letter packages up to 0.188″ (4.80 mm). A cut-depth lever offers two cut settings plus a no-cut mode for envelope counting, and a self-adjusting advanced feeder handles mixed mail efficiently. The milling action creates small chips rather than long strips, which drop automatically into a large-capacity chip tray with an indicator light to keep your workspace free of jams.

Still Supported by All For Mailers
The Omation 2112 is no longer in current production, but All For Mailers still supports it with parts and supplies. For a current automatic envelope opener, we can point you to today’s options such as the FD 452.
Protect what you have. These machines were built to last, and the mechanics will outlive the electronics every time. If you’re running one, put it on a quality surge protector, and add static protection — especially in dry winter air or on high-speed paper handling. Power spikes and static are what kill boards, and on these machines a board may not be replaceable at any price. It’s the cheapest insurance there is for equipment you can’t simply reorder.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Omation 2112 still available new?
No — it is a discontinued model, though used units have been offered. We still support existing units and can recommend a current envelope opener.
How fast does the 2112 open mail and how does it protect contents?
Up to 400 envelopes per minute, using a milling cutter that removes a thin chip and leaves a soft feathered edge so contents are not sliced.
What current opener should I look at instead of the 2112?
The Formax FD 452 is the current automatic opener we point people to. It runs up to 300 envelopes per minute, takes mixed sizes up to 10″ x 13″ without pre-sorting, and slits one side rather than milling the edge.
Can I still get parts and supplies?
Yes — visit SuppliesForMailers.com or call 866-430-2874.
