The Formax FD 87HD is a hard drive punch that drives a hole clean through discarded hard drives, rendering stored data virtually unreadable. It meets NSA/CSS requirements for Hard Drive Destruction Devices and handles both 2.5 in and 3.5 in drives without any adjustment, so mixed batches of retired drives move through without setup changes.
The punching die is hardened, nickel-plated steel, and a transparent safety shield with an LED-illuminated chamber lets the operator watch each punch while staying protected. The LED control panel includes auto reverse and auto stop jam protection, sensors halt the motor if the door is open or the waste bin is full, and the geared motor sits in an all-metal cabinet on casters with low operational noise.
