About the ColorMax7
The Formax ColorMax7 is a digital color printer built on Memjet technology: a fixed print head with 70,400 ink nozzles and no moving parts, producing full CMYK output in up to 16.8 million colors. It prints 1600 x 1600 dpi at 6 inches per second or 1600 x 800 dpi at 12 inches per second — roughly 7,500 pieces per hour — with full-bleed coverage on media up to 8.5in wide (8.5in x 17in).
Because thermal inkjet applies no heat or contact, the ColorMax7 is safe for pre-printed shells and windowed envelopes, which makes it a natural fit for direct mail shops, agencies, and in-plant print operations adding full-color envelopes and postcards to the mail stream. In the workflow it takes the addressing-and-branding position between data prep and tabbing or inserting. High-capacity ink tanks keep long runs moving, fully-automated print head cleaning cuts down on operator attention, and an optional belt conveyor/stacker adds production-level output stacking.

No — its thermal inkjet process uses no heat or contact, so it is safe for pre-printed stock and windowed envelopes.
What is the difference between the ColorMax7 and the ColorMax8?
The ColorMax7 is the value entry: up to 7,500 #10 envelopes/hr on media up to 0.5mm thick. The ColorMax8 adds a 7″ color touchscreen, a wider flat paper path for media up to 10.5″ wide and 3/8″ thick (including stuffed envelopes), speeds up to 8,000/hr, and up to 60 GB of job storage.
What computer does the ColorMax7 require?
A Windows-based PC (XP and newer); all TrueType or Postscript fonts are supported. Note that Microsoft Office is not supported for job layout.
