About the Bryce / Secap 9K-L
The Bryce / Secap 9K-L — also sold as the Pitney Bowes W680 — is the ideal address printer for the small-volume mailer who appreciates 600-dpi Hewlett-Packard print quality along with solid speed and media handling. Sharper, clearer graphics and barcodes can be printed anywhere on the mailpiece at print qualities of 150, 300 or 600 dpi.
It prints any Windows-compatible font and includes twelve internal typefaces, scalable from 4 to 30 points and combinable with bold, italic, outline and variable width — over 11,040 internal font combinations. A PCL5 graphics printer, the 9K-L interfaces with any PC, mini or mainframe. Throughput runs up to 9,000 pieces per hour in draft (300 x 300 dpi), 8,500 in letter and 7,000 in executive (600 x 600 dpi). It supports USPS Delivery Point, Planet Code, EAN-13/UPC-A and serial shipping barcodes, handles media from 3″ x 5″ up, as thin as 0.003″, uses HP 51645A-style cartridges, and connects via parallel, serial RS-232C or USB with a conversion cable. It measures 15″ x 16″ x 22″ and weighs about 40 lbs with accessories.

Parts Support from All For Mailers
The 9K-L is no longer in current production, but All For Mailers still supports it with ink, feed rollers, separators and parts. For a current small-volume address printer we can point you to today’s Rena models.
Straight talk: buy a Bryce / Secap 9K-L for parts only. This was a tank — an excellent machine that earned its reputation, and the mechanics on a good one could keep working for decades. But the electronics are the limit: the boards are no longer available at any price. Once one fails, the machine is done, however good the rest of it is. We don’t recommend buying one to put into production.
Protect what you have. These machines were built to last, and the mechanics will outlive the electronics every time. If you’re running one, put it on a quality surge protector, and add static protection — especially in dry winter air or on high-speed paper handling. Power spikes and static are what kill boards, and on these machines a board may not be replaceable at any price. It’s the cheapest insurance there is for equipment you can’t simply reorder.
Already own one and it’s running? Run it, and call us at 866-430-2874 — we’ll help you get every last mile out of it and tell you honestly when it’s time. SuppliesForMailers.com still stocks consumables.
Need a machine you can count on? The RENA AS-150, AS-450, AS-650 and AS-850, or the Formax AP2 (2in), AP3 (3in) and AP4 (4in in-line) — all current, all supported, all backed by our parts, service and lifetime phone support.

Also known as: this machine was also sold as the Pitney Bowes DA50S, DA55S, and DA500, Secap SA3100 and SA3150, and the W660 / WS51 series — same machine, different badge. Looking for one under a different name? Contact us: the same unit is often available wearing another brand’s model number, and parts, supplies, and service experience carry straight over.
