Production Systems

Production mailing systems link feeding, folding, inserting, turning, and transport components into one continuous line built to run high volumes without constant operator attention. AFM stocks production-line modules and components, including new and factory modules for building or expanding a line, from brands built for sustained daily runs. Every component ships nationwide, and our phone team can help plan a line around your existing equipment. Below the machines: our plain-English guide to choosing production mailing equipment, and answers to the questions we hear most.

How to choose production mailing equipment

The deciding factor is where your current process breaks down. If a tabletop folder or inserter cannot keep up with your daily volume, or your mail needs several finishing steps that a single machine cannot perform, a production line built from dedicated modules, such as feeders, turnovers, transports, and dryers, is the next step.

Match modules to your printer's output and your envelope or piece size, since transport width, speed, and orientation all need to line up with the machines feeding into and out of that stage. Building a line generally means adding capability where you need it rather than replacing everything at once.

Tell us your current bottleneck and volume, and we will recommend the specific modules that solve it rather than an entire new line where one is not needed.

Brands we carry

Our production system components include Walco transport, turnover, and dryer modules, Formax FD-series production modules, and XPS and Rena production line equipment.

Production mailing system questions

What counts as a "production" mailing system versus tabletop equipment?
Production equipment is built as modular components, such as feeders, transports, turnovers, and dryers, designed to run continuously at higher volumes than a single tabletop machine.

Can I add production modules to my existing line?
Often, yes, if the module's speed, width, and orientation match your existing equipment. Tell us what you run today and we will confirm compatibility before you buy.

Do I need a dryer in my line?
Generally only if you are printing with inkjet onto glossy or coated stock, where ink needs to cure before the piece is handled further. Uncoated stock generally does not require one.

What is a turnover or transport module for?
These modules move, reposition, or reorient pieces between production stages, such as turning a sheet to change its leading edge before the next step. They keep a multi-stage line running without manual handling.
