Labelers

A label applicator prints and affixes a pressure-sensitive label onto envelopes, packages, or mail pieces — an alternative to inkjet address printing when your artwork, barcode, or compliance needs call for a label instead of direct print. All For Mailers stocks Accufast label applicators, including current production models and the occasional demo unit. Every machine ships nationwide with phone support to help you decide whether labeling or direct addressing fits your job. Below the machines: our plain-English guide to choosing a label applicator, and answers to the questions we hear most.

How to choose a label applicator

The first question is whether you need a label at all. Direct inkjet or thermal addressing prints straight onto the envelope and is usually faster and less expensive per piece. A label applicator makes more sense when you're applying pre-printed labels — barcodes, variable graphics, or labels produced on a separate printer — onto envelopes, packages, or odd-shaped pieces a direct printer can't handle.

Once labeling is the right approach, the deciding spec is label size and application speed. Match the applicator's label-width capacity to your largest label, and check its rated speed against your daily volume — running a machine near its top rated speed on every job shortens its service life.

Also confirm what surfaces the machine is built to label. Flat envelopes are the easiest case; boxes, tubes, and irregular packages need a machine and label-placement setup designed for that shape.

Label applicator questions

Should I label or print directly on the envelope?
Direct printing is usually faster and cheaper per piece for standard envelopes. Labeling makes sense when you're applying barcodes, pre-printed graphics, or labeling packages and shapes a direct printer can't handle. Tell us your piece and we'll give you an honest answer.

Can a label applicator print the label itself?
Some models, like the Accufast PMX, print and apply in one pass. Others apply labels printed separately. Which setup you need depends on your workflow — call us and we'll walk through it.

What label sizes can these machines handle?
It varies by model. Give us your label dimensions and we'll confirm which machine fits before you buy.

Is a demo unit a good option?
A demo unit has typically run a limited number of pieces and can be a solid choice if it fits your volume. Ask us about current availability and condition.
