Envelope Sealers & Openers

Envelope sealers close and seal outgoing mail at speed without you licking a single flap, while envelope openers slit incoming mail cleanly for scanning or manual processing. AFM stocks new and refurbished envelope sealers and openers, including AFM’s own AFM60S, AFM80S, and AFM300S alongside EFS, Mercure/Secap, Omation, Formax, and RENA models. We ship nationwide and back every machine with phone support from our own technicians. Below the machines: our plain-English guide to choosing a sealer or opener, and answers to the questions we hear most.

How to choose a sealer or opener

The one deciding spec is direction of mail flow: sealers close outgoing envelopes, openers slit incoming envelopes for processing. They solve opposite problems, so start by confirming which side of your mail operation actually needs the machine.

For sealers, match throughput (feet or envelopes per minute) to your outgoing volume and check moisture-sealing versus pressure-sensitive flap compatibility with your envelope stock. For openers, confirm the cut style and feed width match the envelope sizes you actually receive.

New and refurbished units are both represented here, including our own in-house AFM60S, AFM80S, and AFM300S sealers — refurbished units cost less up front and suit lower-volume or backup roles well.

Brands we carry

Envelope sealer and opener questions

What's the difference between an envelope sealer and an opener?
A sealer closes outgoing mail without licking flaps by hand; an opener slits incoming envelopes cleanly so the contents can be pulled out and processed. They handle opposite ends of your mail flow.

How fast do envelope sealers run?
Speeds vary by model, from lower-volume desktop units up to machines rated for several hundred feet per minute — tell us your daily outgoing volume and we'll match you honestly.

What's the difference between the AFM60S, AFM80S, and AFM300S?
They're our own house-brand sealers at different speed and price points, refurbished in-house; call us and we'll walk through which tier fits your volume.

Can an envelope opener damage the contents inside?
A properly adjusted opener set to the right envelope thickness slits only the flap edge; if you're handling delicate contents, tell us and we'll confirm the right cut depth and feed settings.

Do sealers work with any envelope stock?
Not always — moisture-sealed and pressure-sensitive flap envelopes need different sealing methods, so confirm your envelope stock matches the machine's sealing method before you buy.
