How to choose a color addressing system
The deciding spec is print resolution and engine type. Most machines on this page use Memjet inkjet engines running at 1600 dpi, which is what produces photo-quality color at production speed rather than the softer output of older thermal or dot-matrix color heads. If color quality is the reason you are upgrading, confirm the resolution before you look at anything else.
After resolution, match the machine to your run speed and print area. Entry and mid systems in this class print a few thousand pieces per hour on a narrow band; the larger MACH and ColorMax systems step up to a wider print area and throughput in the thousands per hour, often paired with a conveyor and dryer for glossy or coated stock. Tell us your average run size and stock type and we will size the engine, not just the printer, honestly.
Finally, check what runs with the printer. Several systems here are sold as complete turnkey packages with a dedicated color RIP PC, feeder, and conveyor already matched to the print engine; others are the print engine alone, meant to slot into a line you already run. Know which one you are buying before you compare price.

Color addressing questions
Does full-color printing really improve response rates?
Many mailers report better open and response rates when color and imagery are added to an envelope, though results vary by list and message. We can walk you through what similar mailers in your industry have tried.
What does "Memjet" mean and why does it matter?
Memjet is an inkjet print engine used across most of the color systems on this page. It produces high-resolution color at production speeds, which is what allows these machines to print photos and full-color graphics without slowing the line down.
Can these printers run on glossy or coated stock?
Generally yes, but glossy and coated stock take longer to dry and usually need a dryer or curing unit paired with the printer. Tell us your stock and we will confirm the right pairing.
Do I need a turnkey system or just the print engine?
That depends on what you already run. Turnkey packages include a dedicated RIP PC, feeder, and conveyor matched to the printer; a standalone print engine assumes you already have compatible feeding and output handling. We will help you figure out which you actually need.
What's the difference between the MACH and ColorMax lines?
MACH is RENA's full-color printer line and ColorMax is Formax's. Both use similar Memjet-class print engines; the differences come down to model configuration, feeder options, and software. Call us and we will compare the specific models you're considering.
Is delivery and installation available on these systems?
Nationwide delivery, installation and operator training are available on any machine we sell, quoted per machine and location.
