Color Address Printer for On-Demand Marketing Messages

Published: July 13, 2009

I’m searching for a color envelope printer to generate marketing messages along with the return address and delivery address. I do # 10 envelopes and postcards primarily. I want something that would allow me to print these pieces on demand so I don’t have to rely on my local printer. He won’t print small quantities, and I would prefer to do things on demand. I would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations. -Parvat

This post was written in 2009, and a lot has changed regarding color envelope printing! As of Oct. 2018, here are your best options!

Rena Mach 5 Digital Color Printer

Prints full color at 6 inches per second for an incredible 1600 x 1600 dots per inch. The faster option is 1600 x 800 dpi at 12 inches per second which still produces a clear image. This means you will be producing up to 9,000 pieces per hour!

Rena Mach 6 Digital Color Addressing System

  • 8,000 color #10 Envelopes per hour
  • 7″ touchscreen
  • Media up to 3/8″ thick

Rena MACH 8 Digital Color Document Printer

There’s a lot to love about the Rena MACH 8 Digital Color Document Printer, but one feature above all else can’t be ignored. It holds a lot of paper – 5,000 sheets (or 10 reams) –and that’s reason enough to requisition more mailroom supplies.

Hello Parvat, and thank you for your question and for visiting AllForMailers.com.   When it comes to address printers that provide color, there are only a few options. The majority of the products that you see on our website are designed to print in a single color. If you print less than 20,000 per month, consider the Rena Imager CS.

It has the highest color print resolution on the market at 1200 dpi and is the lowest price color address printer at $5,995.00. It uses HP PhotoSmart software that generates a picture of your mailpiece along with your return ad delivery address, all in full color.

The drawback to the unit is its speed. It will only generate 1500-2000 per hour when printing in multiple areas on the mailpiece. Also, its HP ink cartridges do not come in a quick dry formula. Therefore, if the postcard you are generating has a gloss coating on both sides, you will have drying issues and will have to add a conveyor with a heater dryer. If this speed is satisfactory and your postcard has a regular finish, the Rena Imager CS will print your entire piece in high-resolution color. This will allow you to handle all of your printing and addressing in one pass and give you the ability to handle your direct marketing on an on-demand basis. If you would like to discuss your application further, don’t hesitate to contact me.
